Long Island stand-up comedy audiences are often (what is known in show business circles as) a “tough crowd.” It’s no wonder, given the talents that made their comic bones on the comedy club stages of Nassau and Suffolk counties, legends like Jerry Seinfeld, Billy Crystal, Eddie Murphy, and Rodney Dangerfield. Here at Gateway Comedy Club we’ve hosted some very funny people – Bob Nelson, Al Lubel, etc. just to name a few – but none of them are quite like the The Comedy Tornado Paul Venier.
The label “Comedy Tornado” is no exaggeration when it comes to a Paul Venier show. His frenetic comedy insanity whips up audiences like a 300 mph wind and before they know it they aren’t in Kansas anymore. A former 1970’s NJ rock god (he was a founding member of local legends Salty Dog), Paul has turned his phenomenal musical prowess towards creating one of the most unique stand up comedy acts you’ll ever see. Paul has a wild time with costumes, characters, impressions, props, and killer jokes all choreographed to his own unique musical stylings. But what really makes a Paul Venier show a special event is his interaction with his audience. You see, The Comedy Tornado has a photographic memory which he uses for hysterical results. It really can’t be described, you need see it for yourself to believe it. And you’ll be glad you did.
Paul will be appearing at the Gateway Comedy Club on June 10th. Get your tickets now by clicking here.
